This Month, Sign Up to Give the Gift of Life

Sarasota Memorial is celebrating National Donate Life Month throughout April, joining hundreds of organizations in Florida and across the United States in spreading the life-saving message of organ, eye and tissue donation.

Today, more than 106,000 individuals in the United States await the gift of life through organ donation. Nearly 4,800 of those are our friends and neighbors in Florida. Sarasota Memorial is a longtime partner with LifeLink of Florida, the local organ recovery organization, to support donation efforts. In 2021, Sarasota Memorial saved 50 lives through organ donation, and 247 lives in the past five years.

SMH honors each donor by raising a Donate Life flag that celebrates the life of the individual. Afterward, the flag is given to the family of the donor.

Did you know that one donor can save up to eight lives through organ donation, and impact up to 75 through tissue donation? Anyone, regardless of age or medical condition, is encouraged to sign up to become a donor.
