Trauma Center Hosts Distinguished Visiting Professor for Statewide Lecture Series
SMH recently had the honor of serving as a host for the Florida Committee on Trauma’s (FCOT) statewide Visiting Professor Lecture Series.
FCOT, which is the Florida chapter of the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma, brings in experts from all over the U.S. to share the latest research and best practices to improve trauma care.
The visiting professor at Sarasota Memorial was Thomas M. Scalea, MD, FACS, MCCM, who is the medical director of the Trauma Program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, a Distinguished Professor of Trauma Surgery and Physician in Chief of the Shock Trauma Center at the university. Dr. Scalea is a legend in the field with more than 600 articles, 190 abstracts, 80 book chapters 900 regional, national, and international presentations. During his visit, he shared the latest advances in the management of pelvic fractures.
