Plan Now to Stay Safe Throughout Hurricane Season
• Hurricane ‘A’ Team Members: Submit Pet Shelter Registration by May 31!
• Take advantage of sales tax holiday on hurricane supplies starting May 28!
Hurricane Season begins June 1. Now’s the time to make plans and preparations for a safe storm season!
Take time to review Sarasota Memorial’s Hurricane Response Plan, as well as other important information on the Emergency Management site on PULSE; look for the icon on the PULSE home page or CLICK HERE for the information on smh.com.
Here are a few important reminders for staff. Please take special note of the updates and deadline for pet shelter registration below:
Hurricane Work Assignments:
Each Sarasota Memorial department is responsible for developing its own hurricane staffing plans and assigning employees to one of the three hurricane team categories in MyTime (Time and Attendance):
- The Pre-Team, which helps with hurricane preparations.
- Hurricane Response (A) Team, which works throughout the duration of the storm.
- Hurricane Recovery (B) Team, which relieves the Response (A) team after the storm.
Employees should address any concerns about hurricane work assignments with their supervisors now. All team members will be responsible for reporting to work at the designated times if the teams are activated at campuses including SMH-Sarasota, SMH-Venice, the North Port ER and the Nursing & Rehab Center.
Child Care for ‘A’ Team Members:
Child Care will be available for A Team members who have no other options; the registration form and other information are on the Emergency Management site on PULSE or CLICK HERE.
Pet Shelter: Register by May 31!
If circumstances allow, Sarasota Memorial may open an on-site pet shelter for pets of Response (A) team members who have no other options, but it is not guaranteed. Staff should be prepared to make alternate plans for their pets.
Response (A) Team members should register their pet(s) by May 31, 2022 and provide verification of current vaccinations; CLICK HERE for the pet shelter agreement and procedures.
Stay Updated Throughout the Storm Season:
If a severe storm approaches, staff will be notified about staffing plans and facility closures via messages on the health system’s Hot Line at 941-917-8799 (941-261-8799 for SMH-Venice). Updates also will be provided via Voalte, email, snh.com, social media and the ReGroup mass notification system. When in doubt, contact your supervisor.
Make Sure Your Contact Info is Up to Date:
Staff should be sure their contact information is correct in MyHR. To complete, log into MyHR. Click on the “PERSONAL DETAILS” tab and then “CONTACT DETAILS” to edit your information.
Weather Radio Winners:
Lindsey Sparks of the North Port ER and Health Care Center was one of the lucky winners of a prize drawing for a weather radio, provided by our Emergency Management team during their hurricane prep rounds to several campuses earlier this month. Congratulations to the other radio winners:
• SMH-Sarasota: Jesica Brando, Patient Transport
• SMH-Venice: Nancy Wingert, Hospitality Services
• Stephanie Rodriguez-Farias, Nursing & Rehab Center
Prepare Now to Keep Your Family and Home Safe:
Staff should plan now to keep their loved ones and homes safe. Community shelter information and hurricane preparedness tips for the public are on the Sarasota County website; CLICK HERE, and also on the Emergency Management site on PULSE
