Award-Winner Keeps Multiple Nursing Areas Running Smoothly

When it comes to multi-tasking and juggling numerous responsibilities, Administrative Assistant II Michele Summers is an expert.

A member of the SMH team since 2005, Michele recently joined the Cardiac/Neuro and Respiratory Progressive divisions after serving as the administrative assistant for the Medical Surgical Division. She was recently named the organization’s EXCEL Employee of the Month Award winner in recognition of her outstanding customer service and resourcefulness.

Here are several excerpts from EXCEL Award nominations submitted by Michele’s peers:

• Michele is incredibly organized and skillfully balances many priorities at the same time. She makes herself available to all of her units, and staff rely on her to obtain supplies, equipment and resources promptly.

• Michele is very analytical and resourceful and always finds a way to get the job done, no matter how difficult. She recently covered 12 units while recruiting, training and mentoring her replacement for the Medical Surgical administrative assistant position.

• Michele goes above and beyond in her duties. She is always calm and accommodating, especially when under pressure. Her exceptional pride in her work, knowledge and flexibility set her apart.

• Michele treats her co-workers as if they are family. Whether it’s a card, e-mail or phone call, she makes each member of the team feel special.

• Her loyalty and eagerness to take on new challenges are what make her a role model for excellence.
