On-Site Wellness Programs & Classes
Looking for a stress-relieving break at work? Check out these in-person activities at SMH:
- Gentle Yoga: Yoga sessions take place every Friday from 11 a.m. to noon in the Community Classroom on the second floor near the āCā elevators. The class introduces yoga to staff and helps participants relax. Yoga mats provided or bring your own; special attire is not required. Participants are welcome to drop by after the session has started.
- Pet Paws: Stop by to pet and engage with specially trained dogs from 3 to 4 p.m. each Thursday in HealthConnection on the first floor of the hospital. Evidence suggests that interactions with pets can help relieve stress, reduce anxiety and lower blood pressure. The program is open only to staff and visitors who are already inside the hospital; we are not allowing other members of the public to enter our facility at this time.
- Mindfulness Meditation: Staff are invited to brief, guided meditation sessions from 3:30 to 4 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the second floor Community Classroom near the āCā elevators.
Employee Assistance Resources:
In addition to the Employee Wellness program, Sarasota Memorial also provides an Employee Assistance Program for staff, which offers counseling and other resources to boost resilience, ease stress, help staff with personal issues and provide emotional support.
